Savvas Stavrou is a Cypriot-British film director and alumni of the Sundance Mediterranean Screenwriters Lab, Berlinale Talents, Sarajevo Talents and Zurich Film Festival Masterclass. His short films SONG TO THE SIREN, DOROTHEA and INTERLUDE have screened internationally at festivals, with the latter having won the Sci-Fi London Festival’s 48 Hour Film Challenge for Best Short. As a music video director, his work was pinned by Promo News amidst the likes of Massive Attack and Florence + the Machine, and SIRENS won the Best Music Video award at Aesthetica Film Festival. More recently, his film SUBMISSION was picked and presented by NOWNESS.

His latest short film A JAR OF NUTS, based on a story by renowned Greek author Antonis Samarakis, was funded by the Cyprus Film Fund. He is currently in pre-production on his BFI-funded short film BUFFER ZONE and developing his first feature THE ONES LEFT BEHIND, which was one of 8 projects selected to participate at the Sundance Mediterranean Screenwriters Lab in 2018.
